The group "SAX FOUR FUN" is composed by four saxophone players who have been working together for several years in the aim of entertaining themselves as well as the audience, in the attempt of emphasizing the saxophone in all its endless expressive potentialities, spacing from jazz to the blackest blues, to salsa and to the ethnic "tangencialities" typical of the "world music".

Thanks to its vast repertoire, the group can offer thematic concerts.

Many are the meaningful attainments the formation has reached through its intense activity, among which:

  1. Finalist at the Contest "Summertime in jazz" (Prato ’94).

  2. Winner of the National Contest "Arcore in jazz" (Milan ’95), organized by ARCI of Arcore and "Pomeriggi Musicali" - Milan.

STEFANO MENATO

 

 

ALTO & SOPRANO SAX

 

Graduated in clarinet at the Conservatoire in Verona, he plays in various formations: "New Project Jazz Orchestra" - Trento, "Hanspeter's Orchestra" - Bolzano, "Hello Mr Sax" - Parma. In 1994 he recorded a C.D on his own. He is the first saxophone player in the orchestra of the Arena in Verona; among his collaborations there are other important ones to be mentioned, such as the one with RAI of Turin and the Fenice of Venice. After having worked with Gianni Bella and Andrea Mingardi, he has produced his last record with Mietta.

PEPITO ROS

 

       

        ALTO & SOPRANO SAX

 

Brilliantly graduated by the "G.B.Martini" Conservatoire in Bologna, he subsequently graduated in saxophone and chamber music by the Paris European Conservatoire under Bruno Totaro’s guide. First in many national and international contests ("Adolph Sax" Paris
1990, Asti 1991;"A. Ponchielli" Cremona 1993, Caltanissetta and Modena 1995)
attending also many reviews (Festival du
Saxophone-Paris, The Fenice Concerts, X° World Saxophone Festival, Asolo Musics, Internazionali Meetings of Informatic Music,
New Synchronies Festival, Dolomites Music Festival, Heinerfest (Darmstadt),
San Sebastian Jazz Festival etc.). He takes part in the New European Ensemble, the Modern Saxophone Quartet, the New Project Jazz Orchestra and the Tammittam Ensemble with which he has recently recorded a cd for the Artis Records performing music by L. Nono. He has collaborated with: R.A.I. - Milan, Arena - Verona, "La Fenice" Theater in Venice, the Municipality Theater of Trieste.
He has studied composition with Daniel Brewbaker and Ugo Amendola.
With the saxophone Sax Four Fun quartet he has won the first absolute price at the "Arcore Jazz" 1995 contest.

With the New Project Jazz Orchestra, he has recently recorded the cd: "Across the Beatles Universe".

Always in the jazz environment he has taken part several times in the "Jazz Italia" Festival and in various foreign reviews. He teaches saxophone by the "F.A. Bonporti" Conservatoire in Trento.

 HANS TUTZER

 

 

ALTO SAX

 

Having begun his saxophone studies in Milan, he graduated in 1989 in lnnsbruck, under the direction of Florian Bramböck (Vienna Art Orchestra). He plays in various groups, among which:

"Hanspeter's Orchestra" - Bolzano and the quartet "Saxophonia". Starting from 1990 he has been teaching saxophone by the Musical Institute in Bolzano.

In 1998 he records for "Shamrock " in Austria a CD in trio, with an original style very close to the one produced and wanted by the famous recording house "ECM", classical – modern with sudden improvisations, under the title of "OTeM".

FIORENZO ZENI

 

TENOR SAX

He has started playing at the age of 11 with soprano sax, it was at 15 that through a small band he got in contact with jazz. In these years he develops a fresh and full language, by listening to and personally meeting Italian musicians such as Franco D’Andrea, Larry Nocella, Tiziana Ghiglioni. A remarkable imprint has been given to him by John Coltrane whose masterpieces he nowadays still follows.

He graduates in ’90, studying privately, at the Monteverdi Conservatoire in Bolzano in theory and solfeggio.

Later on, in ’91 he collaborates in a seminary with the percussionist Pol Wertico with whom he plays in duo and then in jam session with the Australian poly-instrumentalist James Morrison.

In ’93 he takes part in the Bruno Tommaso Orchestra, with whom he plays alive the music track composed by him of some silent long feature films by Buster Keaton and "METROPOLIS" by Fritz Lang.

It is always in these years that he plays alive with different musicians such as: Bruno de Filippi, Franco Cerri, Stefano Cerri, Claudio Angeleri, Vittorio Marinoni and others.

 

In ’97 he attends two important Festivals, that is: Kempten in Germany with the Triko Quartet and S.Sebastian in Spain, with the New Project Jazz

Orchestra, with which he comes back in 1998 for the 33rd edition of the festival, also with "Sax Four Fun". In September ’98 he takes part in the "Summer Jazz Festival" in Bolzano with a Quintet.

GIORGIO BEBERI

 

 

BARITON SAX

Graduated in saxophone by the Milan Conservatoire under Mario Marzi’s direction, he has taken part in various seminars with Joe Henderson in Venice and Claudio Fasoli in Siena. He has collaborated with the following orchestras:

"Fenice" in Venice, "G.Verdi" Theater in Trieste, "Haydn" Orchestra - Bolzano, "G.Verdi" Orchestra - Milan, Symphonic Orchestra in Bergamo. He has played in Germany, Denmark, Spain and Hungary with jazz and classical formations. He has taken part in the recording of numerous C.Ds with the following formations:

"New Project Jazz Orchestra", "Hanspeter's Orchestra", "Suono Improvviso" Orchestra. He teaches saxophone by the Musical Institute in Bolzano.
